Merritt is the Director of Development and outreach for the Friends, responsible for marketing, communication and fundraising for Friends. Merritt has worked as a consultant to a variety of non-profits and for profits in Maine for over a decade, primarily advising on strategy, communications and outreach as well as development. Merritt attended Brown University, the University of Auckland, New Zealand School of Law and the University of Maine School of Law, where she graduated magna cum laude.
Ian Fowler is the OML’s Cartographic Reference and Digital Projects Librarian. In this capacity, he serves as the liaison between the OML and the Friends, advising on collaborative projects and strategy. Prior to joining OML, Ian worked in the Geography and Map Division at the Library of Congress for five years, doing reference, cataloging, and managing special projects. Ian has a B.A. in Education with a minor in Geography from The Ohio State University, and a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from Dominican University just outside of Chicago. At OML Ian provides in person and digital reference services to the wide range of OML users and collaborates with Renee Keul, OML’s k-12 Education Outreach Coordinator, to develop k-12 lesson plans and educational activities incorporating OML’s collections. Additionally, Ian will focus on increasing OML’s digital footprint by supervising and uploading student-created digital projects, increasing OML’s social-media presence, and expanding OML’s digital outreach.
